PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER

Roseway Waldorf School requires a Primary School teacher for class 2 to continue up to Class 7, to start July 2024.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A qualified experienced teacher (Bachelor’s Degree in education or a related field) with SACE registration and have a reasonably sound knowledge of Waldorf pedagogy and be willing to be trained further in Waldorf education;
  • Preference will be given to Waldorf Trained teachers who are committed to the philosophy and methods of Waldorf education and have previous Primary school teaching experience;
  • Have a genuine love of children and have real interest in them and a strong knowledge and understanding of child development;
  • Be self-motivated, to take initiative and work as an effective team member and maintain healthy relationships in our school community;
  • Have artistic and creative skills.

MICHAEL OAK WALDORF SCHOOL, KENILWORTH, CAPE TOWN

PRIMARY SCHOOL CLASS TEACHER

Full-time permanent position to begin January 2025. The successful applicant will be expected to begin their career at Michael Oak as a Class 1 teacher and move with their class through all 7 years of Primary School.  They must meet the following criteria:

  • Formal teaching qualification at Foundation or Intermediate Phase
  • SACE registration
  • Interest in and willingness to learn Waldorf pedagogy
  • Willingness to grow with the children in their care, adapting their teaching style to the Waldorf methodology and each year of the child’s development as they move from class 1 to class 7
  • Versed in a wide range of artistic skills – drawing, painting, clay work, singing, playing an instrument, rhythmic speech, drama.
  • Caring and enthusiastic, with a love of and dedication to children and their development
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work well with our dynamic community of staff, learners and parents
  • Willingness to actively contribute to the collective management of the Primary School

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed Waldorf training and / or those who have previous experience teaching at a Waldorf school.

Raphaeli Waldorf School Class 4/Senior Primary Job Description

  • The teacher will be responsible for the group of children in their class, with the expectation of remaining as their core teacher until the end of their primary school journey at the end of Class 7.
  • Self-motivation and self-management essential.
  • Compassionate, child-focused with a love for teaching and inspiring children to learn through a heart-centred, creative learning approach.
  • A wide range of artistic skills – drawing, painting, clay work, singing, playing an instrument, clear, rhythmic speech, drama.
  • Strong interest in, and committed to, giving children outdoor experiences and fostering care for the environment.
  • He/she will be responsible for both classroom work and pastoral care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have Accredited Teaching Qualifications (B.Ed or PGCE), SACE registration and at least one of the following:

Proven successful teaching experience with a preference given to senior primary experience and/or Waldorf teaching experience.

Preferentially a CCE/Waldorf teaching qualification.
