DRAMATIC ARTS TEACHER FOR MATRIC

Part time position to begin 2027
Michael Oak is seeking a Dramatic Arts teacher to teach the CAPS curriculum for Matric and prepare learners for the NSC examination. Our preferred candidate will be passionate about teaching Dramatic Arts as a matric subject and about bringing young people to the stage.

Requirements
• A formal teaching qualification in the FET Phase, with Dramatic Arts as a specialisation
• Current SACE registration
• At least two years’ post-qualification experience teaching Dramatic Arts in Grades 10 to 12, including preparing learners for the final examination
• Working knowledge of CAPS Dramatic Arts assessment, including Practical Assessment Tasks and School-Based Assessment
• Experience directing and staging school productions
• Willingness to work beyond school hours for rehearsals, performances, parent meetings and school events
Advantageous
• Experience as an examiner, marker or moderator in Dramatic Arts

AFRIKAANS TEACHER FOR GRADES 10 – MATRIC

Our preferred candidate will be passionate about teaching Afrikaans in the FET phase at a FIRST additional language level. The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • A formal teaching qualification in the FET Phase, with Afrikaans as a specialisation
  • Current SACE registration
  • At least two years’ post-qualification experience teaching Afrikaans in Grades 10 to 12, including preparing learners for the final examination
  • Working knowledge of CAPS Afrikaans assessment, including School-Based Assessment

WALDORF SCHOOL WINDHOEK

Primary School Teacher

Full-time permanent position to begin January 2027

The successful applicant will be expected to take on the role of Grade 1 Teacher at Waldorf School Windhoek, and move with their class through to Class 6.  They must meet the following criteria:

  • Formal Waldorf teaching qualification at Foundation Phase and Intermediate Phase
  • Be interested in and willing to continuous learning in Waldorf pedagogy
  • Willingness to grow with the children in their care, adapting their teaching style to the Waldorf methodology and each year of the child’s development.
  • A generalist educator, confident in Mathematics and English Teaching. Other language such as Afrikaans or German will be an advantage.
  • Versed in a wide range of artistic skills – drawing, form drawing, painting, clay work, singing, playing an instrument, rhythmic speech, drama.
  • Caring and enthusiastic, with a love of and dedication to children and their development
  • Self-motivated and flexible to adapt when required
  • Able to work well with our dynamic community of staff, learners and parents
  • Willingness to actively contribute to the collective management of the Primary School
  • Willingness to participate in and present teacher training or capacity building as required

FULL-TIME NURSERY SCHOOL AND & GRADE R TEACHER

Michael Mount Waldorf School, situated in Bryanston, Johannesburg, is currently looking for a FULL-TIME NURSERY SCHOOL & GRADE R TEACHER to start in our 4th term, 12 October 2026.

Preschool

Childhood is an essential period of development to be protected, nurtured and nourished, rather than rushed. Our Preschool includes our Baby Care, Play Group and our Nursery School with Grade R. We are looking for a suitably qualified and nurturing teacher for our Nursery School and Grade R age mixed age group.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and passion for the Waldorf approach to education and be committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for children aged 4-6 years old (Nursery School and Grade R)
Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver Waldorf-inspired seasonal lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and in line with Waldorf.
• Create and maintain a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child.
• Incorporate daily, weekly and seasonal rhythms and rituals into the classroom, including storytelling, puppetry, singing, and movement.
• Provide a range of artistic activities, including painting, drawing, clay modelling, and crafts.
• Foster a love of nature and the environment through outdoor play and exploration.
• Collaborate with other teachers and school administration to ensure each child’s needs are met.
• Attend professional development training and stay up to date with Waldorf pedagogy and best practices.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each child’s progress and communicate with parents regularly.
• Provide individualised attention and support to each child in your care.

The successful applicant must: –
• Be suitably qualified with a minimum of a BE.d Foundation Phase Degree or Grade R Diploma
• Be SACE registered – up to date and fully compliant
• Waldorf experience will be advantageous
• Be open-minded and creative in teaching methods with a passion for working with young children and their families
• Be interested in joining a highly individual faculty, working towards self-development within the Waldorf ethos.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with the rest of the school’s teachers and administration staff
