SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR
Full-time permanent position to begin 1 July 2025
The School Administrator is a vital role in managing our strategic operations and maintaining the highest standards of governance, compliance and planning to support our educational mission. They will be an important communications link and support to the College of Teachers and the Board of Trustees, helping to craft and drive initiatives which will ensure that the school thrives and grows. This position demands an individual with a strong commitment to the principles of Waldorf education and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and the wider community.
The successful applicant must meet the following key selection criteria:
- A proven ability and at least 5 years’ experience managing, leading and inspiring a diverse team while fostering a positive school culture.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail and able to hold the threads of many initiatives, ensuring that various teams are provided with the support to implement these effectively.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information clearly to various bodies within the school.
- Proven experience in financial management (2 – 5 years), including budgeting, reporting, developing and implementing financial controls.
- An in-depth understanding of compliance and accreditation processes relevant to the educational sector.
- Strong capabilities and experience of at least 5 years in human resources management, including recruitment and onboarding processes, labour relations, employee well-being, remuneration and employee contracts.
- Registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE).
Our preference would be to appoint a person who also has the following skills, attributes and experience:
- A qualification with a focus on management or leadership, in addition to a teaching qualification.
- Familiarity with Waldorf principles or prior experience in a Waldorf school setting.
- Understanding of legal regulations and policies applicable to a school and to the safety of children.
- Proficiency in school management software and financial management systems.
- Experience or training in diversity and inclusion initiatives within an educational context.

BOOKKEEPER
Part-time permanent position to begin as soon as possible
The main focus of this role is to support our non-profit school by ensuring that fees are billed correctly and paid on time. Clear communication, accuracy and dedication to detail are key. The role will also include processing creditors on Pastel and loading payments onto the banking system and managing petty cash. The position is part-time – for approximately 20 hours a week, with some variation between busy times and less busy times. Some flexibility is possible between working from home and working in office, but this cannot be a fully remote position as the Bookkeeper needs to be able to meet with fee-payers in person.
The successful applicant must meet the following criteria:
- At least 5 years’ experience in the implementation of debtors’ processes, from billing to collection, including handover to legal processes
- Experience in managing debit orders
- At least 2 years’ experience in processing creditors
- Proven experience on Ed-Admin and Pastel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Integrity and sensitivity to be able to respond to difficult situations with professionalism
- Proven ability to keep to deadlines and manage own time.
Our preference would be to appoint a person who also has the following:
- Relevant experience in an education environment
- Experience in working with auditors to complete an annual audit
- Experience working with the Karri App
- Willingness and ability to work during the school holidays (with some flexibility) and, in particular, in December when year-end processes must be completed
- Advanced skills in MS Office or similar business applications
- A clear Police Clearance Certificate and credit record.

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
Full-time permanent position to begin 1 July 2025
This pivotal role ensures the smooth operation of the school’s administrative and operational functions. The Operations Coordinator will manage essential areas including front office operations, health and safety, event coordination, enrolments, marketing and communications, facilities management, and IT oversight. We seek an organized individual with strong communication skills who can respond effectively to the needs of staff, students, and parents.
The successful applicant must meet the following key selection criteria:
- A minimum of 3 years of managerial experience demonstrating excellent organizational skills and a formidable ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while paying close attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to assess situations, devise effective solutions, and respond to challenges with composure and grace.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with parents, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience in fundraising, marketing and communications, specifically managing regular newsletters and social media platforms for an organisation and overseeing multiple fundraising activities.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to educational settings, along with prior experience overseeing health and safety in a similar environment.
- Previous exposure to and sufficient understanding of and confidence to manage facilities and maintenance processes.
- At least 3 years of experience in organising events and managing logistics to ensure successful execution.
- Familiarity with and sufficient proficiency to oversee school management software, data management processes and IT systems.
- At least 3 years’ experience leading and inspiring a small but diverse team.
Our preference would be to appoint a person who also has the following skills, attributes and experience:
- A qualification with a focus on operations, management or leadership.
- Previous experience in a Waldorf school or in an organisation that utilises a non-hierarchical management structure.
- Previous experience in customer service roles, particularly in an educational or community setting.
- Certification or training in first aid or emergency response would be advantageous.
- Previous involvement in committee work or community forums.
