The Inkanyezi Children's Garden and Waldorf School provide a Haven of Peace and Creative Learning for children from Alexandra, a Township with 450.000 people living in one square kilometer.
The beautiful buildings with classrooms for Grades 1-7 and three nursery rooms are in stark contrast to the environment.
The parents value the education highly, but can contribute only minimally. A Parents Council together with the Trustee Board of the Centre for the Art of Living are the governing bodies.
Most teachers and nursery school teachers of the Inkanyezi Waldorf School have been trained at the Baobab Community Centre, which is on the same premises as the school and provides ongoing In-Service Training.
The children love their school time much more than the vacation times!
In 1998 the Inkanyezi Waldorf School successfully hosted the National Waldorf Teachers Conference at its premises in Alexandra.
